Media Publisher Delivers for Enterprise

April 11, 2007
By Troy Dreier

Media Publisher Inc. will introduce version 4.5 of its signature Media Publisher video serving and archiving tool at next week's AIMM Conference and Expo in Boston. The management and distribution software will gain three key benefits that will help enterprise users better serve video both internally and externally:

  • The product's Video Control Center, the central application that ties the various modules together, will now integrate with VBrick to provide a linked encoding system. The Video Control Center will also work with networking company Blue Coat, to offer integrated video distribution.
  • The product's Live EventPro module will be able to rebroadcast events, so that you can set easy time zone shifting and show a live presentation at the same time in multiple time zones.
  • Media Publisher will work with new digital signage technology, which allows for intelligently updated signs in retail, corporate, and hotel spaces. The Media Publisher solution will let users manage RSS feeds that control content to the signs.

We spoke with the Media Publisher, Inc. CEO Rod Bacon, who explained that 80 percent of the product's users use it exclusively for internal video broadcasts. It can be used for serving video online, and is a strong option for distributing live events with low latency to huge numbers of viewers.

Media Publisher focuses on enterprise customers. Its modular system lets buyers customize the product with only the features they need, such as live broadcasting, video publishing, digital signage, and streaming video distribution. It's also a complete archiving solution, managing all of an organization's video and audio assets.

This appearance at the AIIM conference is a first for Media Publisher. The conference focuses on content management strategies. By attending, Media Publisher says that the enterprise needs to get smart about managing video content, as well.

Media Publisher is based in Emeryville, CA, and currently has 80 customers, 90 percent of which are enterprise (including large government departments). Pricing for Media Publisher starts at $50,000 for a base configuration.
